Establishing the real local needs - through consultation and market research techniques to demonstrate that your development proposals are widely supported
Local needs assessments – facilities, pitches, open space and recreational land
Bespoke area studies - to help support the development case including undertaking a full audit in accordance with PPG17 guidance
Quantity assessment of open space and recreational land provision - including location, areas and types of open space in accordance with the categories proposed in PPG17
A Microsoft Access database and/or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets - containing specific site assessment information on local open space sites
Assessing the right level of developer contributions
Negotiations with local authorities and/or Sport England - on recreation and open space requirements
Planning applications with supporting evidence
Identification of deficiencies and surpluses - (using maps and projections) in accordance with local needs both now and in the future to provide evidence in support of development
Determination and application of robust local standards - in accordance with PPG17 for open space provision to challenge existing local authority standards.
This will help with securing planning permissions, finding appropriate sites for development and providing the appropriate and reasonable needs for local authorities through funding contributions, section 106 agreements or new open space provision.
